About us

“If we could develop winter fur, graze grass or use photosynthesis, we would live in a clearing in the forest”

Stålhetta is a family business from Västerbotten that designs and manufactures products for home and garden. Behind Stålhetta are gardener Eva Larsson and landscaper Alexander Larsson. The actual manufacturing is done in Västerbotten. Patterns and shapes are laser cut and then processed by us by hand.

A foundation to stand on

The ideas behind Stålhetta’s design were founded back in the 1960s, along the red thread of experiences that ran through the forest, meadow and waterways. The nature around the village was our exciting and safe childhood country against which the rest of our life was reflected. Working with Stålhetta’s natural forms is like coming home.

Our collection of Nordic plant material includes wild flowers, herbs and our beloved weeds.

We believe in recognition

Stålhetta has been around since 2016. We have talked a lot about why we are affected by different environments, images and objects in which nature is depicted. Historically, our weeds, waterways and trees have been vital to us. We believe in a memory, an ancient recognition that signals security and survival.

We would be happy if, through our design, we made you feel the same joy and humility that nature has lavished on us over the years.

Theories

The answer to these questions can only be conjecture on our part.
The need for security is the common thread that runs through the forest, meadow and watercourse. Historically, these feelings go back to when man roamed the savannahs!
Professors Kaplan and Ulrich at SLU have come up with a theory about why nature affects us positively. They take an evolutionary approach and argue that types of nature similar to the nature that surrounded humans in their “primordial home” and gave them the signal for safety and danger, still exist in modern humans.

Materials, production and care

Stålhetta’s products are shaped and manufactured in Västerbotten from high-quality steel. They are laser cut, shaped by hand and treated with appropriate surface treatment.
